When we talk about slow living, what usually first comes to mind is that it is solely about temporality, and even if the pace we keep plays a significant role, what I have come to realize is most characterizing for living slow is taking the time to feel, be, reflect and process the things and experiences that are happening in our lives + understand (become aware) of how they make us feel. Without this, we are at risk of loosing touch with ourselves.
In a world that is moving ever faster, with norms and expectations to strive and chase for more, if we are not deeply anchored in our truth and hearts we will easily fall victims to the constant pressure of always having to be proving ourselves and our worth, and spend our lives living through the lens of others perceptions. By making space in our daily lives to sit with ourselves and process what we are not only actually feeling, but also reflect upon what we truly want out of our lives, what our values are, we pave the way for a more fulfilling, intentional and meaningful life which is what Slow Living really is all about.
In a culture that glorifies hustle and constant doing, slow living can feel like a quiet rebellion. But it’s not about doing nothing, or living in isolation. It’s about living on purpose. It’s about choosing depth over speed, presence over pressure, and meaning over noise.
